Good but different soul food recipes?

My parents are coming to visit me from China, I want to make some soul food for them. Does anyone have any good recipes for soul food besides the usual fried chicken/bbq pork/collard green/cornbread combo?

(They are extremely picky, so nothing too ';gross'; like chitterlings, though I wouldn't mind eating them personally, my parents certaintly do mind.)Good but different soul food recipes?
When i was down in Mississippi awhile back i was served up some of the best greens i ever ate. They had been cooked with plenty of salt, black pepper, water, and ham hocks but the kicker was that they had fresh whole okra cooked in with the fresh picked greens. This makes a really good side dish and most of the stores carry turnip greens and okra these days.Good but different soul food recipes?
